Use Joomla Articles to render existing Joomla content through any ES Content Display layout.
Set:
1. Source → Content Source → Joomla Articles
Then configure the collection under 2. Content.
Categories
You may select one or more Joomla Article categories.
- Leave Categories empty to allow Articles from all accessible published categories.
- Selected categories are matched directly.
- Subcategories are not added automatically simply because their parent category is selected.
Tags
You may select one or more existing published Joomla Tags.
When Tags are selected, Tag Matching becomes available:
Any selected tag
An Article is accepted if it matches at least one selected Tag.
All selected tags
An Article must contain every selected Tag.
Tag filters also respect publication state, access and language rules.
Featured
Choose:
- All
- Featured only
- Non-featured only
Article Language
Choose:
- Current site language
- All languages
- A specific Joomla content language
When a specific/current language is used, language-neutral Joomla content (*) is also eligible.
Article Ordering
Available options:
- Publish date — newest first
- Publish date — oldest first
- Created date — newest first
- Created date — oldest first
- Modified date — newest first
- Modified date — oldest first
- Title — A to Z

- Joomla article ordering
Article Limit
Set the maximum number of Articles loaded by this module.
v1 supports:
1–500 articles
For very large collections, avoid rendering more content than visitors realistically need on one page.
Access and publication safety
The Articles source filters content before rendering. It respects Joomla Article and Category access, publication state, publication dates and language.
This means a restricted or unpublished Article is not displayed merely because it matches a Category or Tag query.
Display fields
For Joomla Articles, 4. Display can control:
- Image
- Intro
- Body/full content
- Metadata
Metadata includes available Joomla Article information for:
- Category
- Tags
- Author
When a field is disabled, ES Content Display also avoids loading unnecessary data for that field where practical.
