Updates & Download Key

ES Content Display integrates with the Joomla Update System and the ExtensionSpot protected download service.

What the Download Key does

The Download Key identifies an eligible ExtensionSpot purchase when Joomla requests a protected update package.

The installed extension itself continues working if the update/support entitlement expires.

Expiration affects access to protected updates/support, not the already-installed module functionality.

Add the Download Key in Joomla

After installing ES Content Display:

  1. Open System → Update Sites.
  2. Find the ExtensionSpot Updates entry associated with ES Content Display.
  3. Enter your ExtensionSpot Download Key in the Download Key field provided by Joomla.
  4. Save the Update Site.
  5. Check Joomla extension updates again.

Use the order/download credential supplied for your ExtensionSpot purchase. Do not place private server/API credentials into the Joomla extension files.

Update behavior

ES Content Display uses semantic versioning.

Updates are installed over the existing module using Joomla's upgrade mechanism. Existing module instances and their Joomla-stored configuration are intended to remain in place during upgrades.

If Joomla reports that the package cannot be downloaded

Check:

  • The Download Key is present on the correct Update Site.
  • The purchase is still entitled to updates.
  • The Joomla update cache has been refreshed.
  • The server can make outbound HTTPS requests.

If the key is correct but the protected package still cannot be downloaded, contact ExtensionSpot support with the Joomla version and the exact update error message.
